Modern Food Journal

Editorial policy

Modern Food Journal aims to be clear about what a story says, how confidently it says it and whether a commercial relationship is involved. Our editorial choices are made for readers, with care for context and a willingness to correct the record.

Accuracy and context

We check names, terms and factual details before publication and make claims no broader than the material supports. Food customs and cooking practices vary, so we avoid presenting one household's approach as a universal rule. We do not make professional medical, legal or financial claims; when a question calls for specialist or local guidance, readers should seek an appropriate source.

Independence

Editorial decisions are kept separate from commercial arrangements. A partnership does not buy favourable coverage, and a partner cannot require an editorial conclusion. We aim to make the difference between independent editorial material and paid placement clear to readers.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error or an unclear passage, contact us through the Contact page and describe the issue. We review correction requests and update published material when a change is warranted. Significant corrections are identified in the relevant story so readers can see what changed.

Partnership labels and illustrations

Paid or partner material is identified with a clear label near the relevant content or placement. Illustrations may be AI-generated; when an image is made that way, we identify it accordingly. Images are illustrative and should not be read as evidence that a dish, setting or event was directly observed.

At our table

A meal is more than what is on the plate.

The way food is chosen, prepared and shared gives it meaning. We make space for those details without turning every meal into a project.
